DANIELLE ROTHMANN

NEW HALL SCHOOL, CHELMSFORD.

"After deciding to take GCSE Art for Year 10, I quickly realised it was one of my favourite subjects and was something I could come to love and enjoy. Both the process of doing art, and the feeling of satisfaction you gain once you have completed a piece, mean it is never dull.

I am inspired by people and their movements through areas such as cities, and especially the work of artists such as Leon Kossoff and David Bomberg.

I am interested in watching people moving and travelling, it's something that can easily be missed but if you look in greater depth, can be facinating.

Doing Art at university or once I've left school is something I would be interested in as it would enable me to develop my skills and continue in the subject I love the most."

As each year begins, The Hive Artists are invariably asked to take on mentoring roles for Sixth Form art students and those applying for Foundation and Degree courses in September of the same year.

For independent artists with many commitments it can be challenging. So with that in mind, The Hive Artists have decided to use a more creative tactic!

Starting in February 2016 selected Chelmsford A Level Art, Design and Photography students will be given the opportunity to exhibit their work, alongside their Artist's Statement, on the Hive Artist Studios website for a set period of time. Sadly, there is not enough space for every student to exhibit. Two students will be selected from each sixth form school or college in a rolling exhibition of young talent in our city.
